Extending wi-fi - using a bigger aerial.

Basically, i have a pci 11g wi-fi card in my pc.

signal is a bit flakey but the issue is with the cards aerial being hidden behind case, desk and tight up against wall.

Is it possible to replace the pci card aerial with an aerial i can place high up and run the cable down to the card in the pc.

I've seen some 12dbi WiFi Magnetic Base Omni Aerial Antenna SMA 2.4GHz on a certain auction site and wondered if they are the thing i need?

Should be all you need, just have a look to see if the aerial on the card can be removed first, should be a coax screw fitting.
