need good internet speeds and files transfers over a distance of about 200metres

has anyone used cat5e external with ethernet extenders (what make model etc)
it goes thru underground pipe etc

short term as new building will be going up but maybe 18 months ...

this is just for fuel tanks and deliveries in a office at bottom of yard ,, nothing special,, no fibre optic options please i.e. cost and getting it thru trunking underground

something like this http://uk.startech.com/media/products/110VDSLEXTGB/PDFs/110VDSLEXTGB.pdf

just onyone actually used these or similar circa £220 - £280

thank you

You know, 30 seconds of googeling and I've found rj-45 to sc duplex (external) for £66 each and a 200m length of patch fiber for just over £150 i.e. ~£285. Cost doesn't seem to be the limiting factor, though I have no clue of the adapters quality I'd imagine they'd last 18 months and fiber is normally the better option if you need something to drag underground.

Edit: 2y warrenty

Not sure why you are asking no fibre - right tool for the right job and all that.

Don't forget they'll need a tube to run the fibre through - Pulling a bare fibre cable of that length of that distance will very likely cause a break.

as i said we not got room for any extra cables i.e. fibre in a tube its chocca now... hence the option of extenders and has anyone used them.

no ones disputing fibre its more cost i.e. running new duct underground cost option etc etc

thank you for replies

Just update the star tech work great and also works on a full 305m drum we unreeled to test

The cost mentioned originally is not just buying cable ie fibre is getting it fitted and as addressed there wasn't isn't room for any more letvalone delicate fibre in a sheathing ie thicker again ..

Hope it helps others
