Extension leads

Hi all

When my new desk arrives I will be looking to move the PC to the other side of the room, However the closest sockets are along the wall abit further and I think I'll need an extension lead.

Are the certain ones to use with a PC or can I use a standard one that almost everybody has in there house?

You don't need anything special. You can buy a surge arrested extension if you like, but they aren't necessary.

Ahhh OK brilliant ill have a look at the surge ones... I've heard a lot people use them

May as well get that for extra protection. Any one will do

Just ordered one, what is the benefits of having surge protection? I've heard its something to do with lightning strikes :confused:

Surge protection helps against lightning strikes and can also help if say your fuse for plug sockets on that floor get overloaded is did in my house 3 years ago thanks to a faulty trip system that failed to work. Wouldn't even trip just out right pop. We had a 20amp fuse just for the plugs of the entire house. Only recently got the fuse refitted so we now have 30amps for kitchen and 20 amps for upstairs and 20 amps the rest of downstairs. Simply having a 3000watt kettle and 1500watt microwave on at the same time would blow the fuse. Hate the smell of burnt electronics. Cost a pretty penny. Thankfully my surge protection extension saved my pc as the faulty trip would have short my pc most likely.

As Mcgoo says it will protect your PC in the event of any electrical overload.

Thanks for the explanation, atleast now I understand the meaning of them as I was abit confused by it

I'm looking for 2 x extension leads with USB and surge protection - 1 x 8 and 1 x 6 socket. Preferably something I could wall mount as well, also need some space between sockets as some of my plugs are not the usual size and encroach into other spaces.

Honestly can't remember what it was called without checking bud, it was from amazon... I can check when I'm home for you
