Extensive Motherboard issue?

Okay, after building my new spec about 3 weeks ago now I am still at a loss to these problems, and can only assume it is a motherboard issue...

Specs:
E6600, P5W DH Deluxe, GeIL 6400 2GB RAM, GeForce 7950GX2, Seasonic S12 600W, Seagate Barracuda 320GB HDD, Samsung 19" 940BF (DVI connected), Microsoft Wireless Desktop 6000.

Problems:
1) Sometimes when booting the monitor does not get a video signal and the keyboard does not light up even though the computer is running - fans/hdds etc. I have to switch off the PSU from the mains supply and try again before the problem is resolved.

2) System seems to auto-boot at random times, there is no software, hardware or BIOS settings I can find telling it to do this - and normally ends up with the above problem.

3) An extra issue now, the keyboard sometimes does not work, it does not let me type - despite being next to the reciever and having the batteries replaced - not even the connection buttons get it working without a reset.

I would really appreciate some ideas on what I could do to fix these. I have already ran memtest which found no errors. I have updated the BIOS to version 1305.

Would resetting the CMOS help? (Why would this help?)

I'd rather not have to go back to using wired keyboard/mouse either, though I will try for a few days, see if that makes any difference.

Many Thanks.

I'd rather not have to RMA anything :(

Would resetting the CMOS help? (Why would this help?)

You should do that when you flashed the BIOS.
It will re-sett it to default, and clear your old settings (that may be a problem)

I don't think you have a simple fix here, but reading around the web (esp here ) it seems this board has a few bugs.

The problem lots seem to have it with IDE and SATA causing lock ups.
Have a read of that link I posted, and try a PS2 keyboard.

From thread.
Keyboard connected via a USB Hub. When system is shut down pressing the keyboard starts the PC. - No fix as of yet, Disabled PS2 Keyboard Startup does nothing to stop this.

Not using a hub are you?

O'h and what cooling are you using and what temps you got?

No, I am not using a hub for my keyboard, its a wireless reciever for both the mouse and keyboard which is connected to one USB slot and the PS/2 keyboard connector.

My cooling setup is this:
Antec P180 Case with:
1x rear exhaust
1x roof exhaust
1x CPU fan mounted on the Ninja Scythe heatsink.
1x front intake
1x middle fan, intake over the lower HDD bay, exhaust through PSU.

CPU temp = 35c
Mobo temp = 55c

Thanks for the link, I will give it a read as I go along, hopefully it'll have something in there that I can use.

Well, some good news. I have managed to fix my auto-boot (problem 2). It seems that the great design of the P5W means anything in the two USB slots meant for the Remote's reciever will act as the remote/reciever.

So my mouse was plugged into one of said ports, so every little nudge of the mouse would automatically boot the system! :D

Glad that is fixed, though still concerned about the video signal on some boots...

Hiya Guys,

After a few days of experimenting (and installing a new internal speaker) I have been waiting for the video problem to happen again (as I said, its random).

Now with the addition of the speaker fan I know that, when the system is booting normally you'll hear the usual single beep. However when the syetem does not send the video signal the system cannot be booting, as there is no beep, infact there is nothing expect a slight buzzing. I am not sure what this buzzing is, but it sounds like the Hard Drive is firing up and trying to load something (not sure if it is the HDD making the noise though).

So has anyone got any ideas based on this? Maybe a IDE/SATA lockup which this board apparently has?

u didnt say if u cleared u cmos? as said above should b done every time u update it. m/b can b a pain when this not done, some ppl get away with, most dont. would go for a 10 mins clear on it, then try it again.

what's u psu, maybe it can't power everthing that u pc running as well.
would not rma it as well, as u have said it runs for a few days, so aint the board & rma just gonna waste more of u $$$ G/L

Yeah, I cleared the CMOS too, the problem became less frequent, but has not been solved.

The PSU is the Seasonic S12 600W PSU.
