I've been looking for knee and hip armor to go over jeans.

I tend to commute to work on my bike and normally have to carry my jeans in a bag. I don't mind it in the winter months as I find the extra thermal layers of my armored trousers very beneficial, but for these summer days it's a bit of a pain.

I've recently just been wearing jeans for my ride to and from work, but they obviously offer very little in the way of leg protection.

So does anyone know of any models of external armor that I can easily slap/zip/strap/velcro on over my jeans for the ride to/from work?

Why not look at HooD or draggin jeans that are kevlar(aramid) lined and have removable knee/hip pads already?

If you dont go for the Draagin or AN Other armour jeans try MX knee sliders...but Id reckon a pair of armoured jeans is a better bet, pads over clothes in the summer = SWEATY and normal jeans wont have bum/hip/shin proctection for having a merry old slide(not that it will happen!)

Or how about some textile motorbike specifc trouser/jeans? Im in a similar boat, Im going for dianese mesh based armour to go over a t shirt and poss Draggin jeans or something similar off of the bay.

skateboard knee pads? :p

Are they designed with 50-60mph introductions to the road in mind?

Won't they get a bit stinky after being worn all week?

I'll have a looksee at them anyway tho, thanks :)

I have some Frank Thomas Raptor trousers with added optional hip armor which I'd normally wear throughout the colder months.
It's just in summer it'd be nice not to have to carry a backpack to work every day with spare trousers

I have some Aussie biker versions and they are very good. £60 off ebay including knee pads.
I bought a couple of pair and have them on rotation. J&S also do thir own version which is branded RS and can also be found on ebay as well as in their shops.

Found some Draggin classics in black (which should be fine for work) on the bay for £115.
If they're any good I'll maybe buy a couple more to rotate over the week :)

In the dry they are the only style of legwear I use. Draggin are the best but I couldn't afford them and opted for a cheaper version. You'll end up with a few pairs!

What about Hood?

I used to have 3 pairs of Draggin jeans but all 3 pairs seemed to have shrunk since last year... :p :p

Sold them on the bay and bought some Hood jeans in the end. The kevlar is less fluffy and more smooth in these. Which is a little better for the hot weather :)

I only wear those for my commute to work. For weekend ride-outs I still wear my Frank Thomas Raptor trousers (I love having millions of pockets :p) but with one of those cool sweat absorbing base layers. Makes it much more comfortable in the hot weather :)
