I have been looking for an external DAC, primarily for my iPad, but should be suitable for iPhone too.
Do the likes of the Oppo HA-2 actually work as a DAC with these, bypassing the Apple one, or are they working simply as amplifiers?
Some articles I have read suggest some of the external devices don't actually bypass the internal Apple DAC.
For info the phone is a 6s and the iPad a 12.9" Pro.
Interestingly my Macbook seems to have the best quality output from standard, but less practical when just wanting to listen!
