External flash setup advice

I'm looking to start using multiple flashes on some jobs so would like recommendations and advice on what to go for.

I've currently got a Canon 430EXii and never felt I needed to upgrade to a 580etc. However I now need to look at my options. Should I get a 580 and use the 430 as a second with the inbuilt trigger or go for something like a pocketwizard and keep the 430 as the master and buy a 3rd party second flash.

Any help would be great

600ex-rt, it's cheaper than getting Pocket wizards or about the same.

You could get the. Yougoun but I've not had good experiences with them on terms of recycle time.

I read that the 600ex-rt uses a different tranmitter method so not compatible with the 430EXii?

I've seen a full PW setup 2nd hand for £200 so though that could be a winner?

There are better triggers than PW, it was hit and miss for me.

430exii is IR, 600ex-rt is radio frequency.

Do you know what receiver would be compatible with the 600 for use triggering the 430?
