Bought a cheap external thunderbolt PCIE enclosure from China. paired it with an RTX3050 and an SFX PSU, works well with my laptop, Rendering software sees the RTX and just uses it. If i want to play games (its not for that) just have to go into the profile for each game and select the default GPU to be the RTX rather than the onboard Quadro. What i didnt expect is you dont need to use any of the outputs at all on the graphics card, everything goes back to the laptop dock via the thunderbolt cable and then out to the monitors

Shame even TB4 is relatively bandwidth limited and despite the on-paper bandwidth a certain amount is reserved for the displayport transport whether you use it or not :s I've got a 3070 in the Razer Core X Chroma but there are a few issues with it unless you mess about with the power management.

Dont know about FPS uplift, as i wasnt playing games, i wanted an RTX graphics card for the D5Render, which doesnt support the older quadro.

AMD drivers are baked into Linux so if you used an AMD card it "should" be seamless.
