External hard drive autorun.inf

Hi,

I'm wanting to run SyncToy whenever I turn on my external hard drive so it backs stuff up.

On the external I've put a file called autorun.inf with the content:

[autorun]
shellexecute=backup.lnk

Now when I turn on the external the autorun box comes up for some reason saying it wants to run a program, so I click OK & it either brings up the 'assign program to file type' box or 'invalid Win32 application'.

Any idea how I can get this working please?

Hmm, ok, i just restored the autoplay defaults under the external hard drive.

Now when double clicking the drive it runs my backup every time

Are there any ways to make it autoplay JUST on startup and then when I want to access the drive I can just double click to open it normally?
