External Hard drive - I mac

Hi Guys i am looking to buy an external hardrive for my 27" Imac so i can store my collection of Movies on there

anyone recommend one? looking for a 2tb one

Depends on how much you acces it and how valuable the data.

Drobo is good but pricy for example but is fast (FireWire 800) and has great redundancy features.

I use a 1.5TB drive in el cheapo USB enclosure but not for anything I don't mind losing (but it is backed up regardless)

I've just bought a "iomega minimax" 1TB.They are not to expensive,get good write ups and is Firewire 800

Where did u buy your iomega minimax? Also what's difference between FireWire and normal USB? Do u have to have a special cable?

Firewire should have faster transfer rates than USB2. The cables are different but I wpuld expect the drive to come with one.
If it is purely for storage then it may not worth the extra outlay.

I just use a 1Tb Hitachi USB2 drive and Time Machine.

Should come with a FireWire 800 cable if it is a FireWire drive. Oh and FireWire 800 will more than beat USB2 for speed.

EDIT: Just looked at one and it matches the Mac style as well. I think I may have to get one of those...

Yes it does come with a Firewire 800 cable.If you Google it,you will fine a lot of well know shops sell them.
