Im using an Western Digital 500GB External Hard Disk, It has never left my desk so has not been knocked around or used overly much for that matter. Today I backed up around 100GB of files and then created a partition to create a bootable version of Mountain Lion OS.. I experienced slow hanging on Disk Utility and also when trying to access anything on the drive or to transfer anything from it or on to it.. So I have then formatted the drive, repairs etc and it is working fine showing in Disk Utilitys being able to access it and add things to it although a 4GB file is taking 2 hours and is transferring in KB not even MB! It's a USB 3 Compatible drive but being ran at USB2 this happens when using the HD on both machines. (It was all working fine this morning before I created and tried to use the bootable partition) Would anyone be able to shed some light on this problem?
(Just an update 3GB coming up at 40 mins left before 30GB would take roughly 15 minutes!)
