external HD dead, can I use the case?

Hi I have a 1tb external HD that inside is a samsung HD which has developed 4000+ bad sectors.

So dont think I can repair them????? (please do let me know)

Can I still use the case and circuitry that is in it on another Sata HD or is that asking for trouble.

Just curious if its just a basic caddy when all said and done.

As I have another 1TB HD ready to go in it.

Maybe

Take the thing apart carefully and seeif it has a normal SATA data and power connector. I have seen an external with a completly custom drive in it with an odd looking controller board and proprietary connector, though I think this was a Seagate

It is a Buffalo Drivestation. USB to computer. Sata connectors to HD.
