Hi. At present I have a Western Digital 1TB External HD connected to my PS3 which is downstairs in the lounge.

everytime I want to add new files on it from my computer upstairs I have to unplug the externals HD etc which is a job in itself as all the wires are behind units.

If I was to buy 2 of these. Have one next to the PS3 via USB, feeding into it and the other upstairs connected to my main pc. Could I just pull out the HD next to the PS3 take it upstairs and plug it into the other and add files that way.

Or do they not work that way.

Other option, is just buying another western digital Buffalo external HD drivestation and having that upstairs so I have the power cables etc ready for when I just bring the PS3 HD upstairs. Which I think would make more sense.

I do do that as well. No problem there. Just I am slowly putting my DVD's onto the external HD so as to enable me to play them through the PS3.

I am thinking of somehow routing a network cable from the computer upstairs somehow downstairs to the PS3. Problem is I know very little about this route.

The router is plugged into master socket downstairs in hall.

PC is upstairs connected to the router/ internet through a USB wireless adapter.

PS3 in lounge wirelessly connected to router and also networked to upstairs PC and laptop.

These home plugs any good for streaming data? (house is about 10 years old)

Yes, but I would not have thought it would be a massive difference though, I am quite surprised to find that it can be a big difference.
