I got a 500gb external hd that i use just for storage, would it be possible to take out the hd and place into my case?

Is it just as simple as removing it and placing it in?

Thanks

It should just be a case of removing the HD from the encloser(sp?) and putting it in your machine, the best way to find out is to open it up :D

It may need formatting but the cheaper ones just use normal hard-drives, and you can re-use the encloser for a USB to IDE/SATA interface.

Like Chad said, they just use normal hard drives, my GF was nearly in tears when she though her external had died, was just the IDE to USB converter. Popped the drive into the PC, Bobs your mothers brother.

what kind of connection is it? You should already have internal usb connectors, possibly firewire. You could just kinda leave it in your case if its big enough. But is it realy nessaserry to have it in the case anyway?
