I'm looking for an external hard disk drive to use with Time Machine. Any recommendations from our fellow Mac users here? So far I've had my eye on the Western Digital MyBook or the Seagate FreeAgent Pro range.

I'm having trouble deciding whether or not I need an HDD with Firewire. Is it necessary? Or will USB2 suffice for Time Machine? It's going to be connected to my Mac all the time.

Sorry if this is the wrong forum, but I felt it was more Mac related rather than HDD related otherwise I would've posted it in the hard drive forum... thanks.

I've just bought an My Book Studio. Its Got USB, e-sata and firewire. I've found firewire to be a hell of a lot quicker than USB and I would recommend getting a firewire external HDD purely for that.

Thanks for that... looks like the 320GB version seems to be sold out everywhere though... bugger :(

Did it come with a FW800 cable? Otherwise I better add that to my shopping list too.
