How do I change a 'Read' only external HDD to have 'Read and Write' permission?

Was trying to transfer and copy some photo files (photos taken by me, btw) from my iMac to an external portable HDD.

Ctrl click (right click) on the HD you want to change permissions on, get info, click the padlock symbol at the bottom right, verify with password then change permissions in the preference pane to the right.

Picnic - Yes, its a NTFS format drive. I mainly use it for work's PC.

Kawolski - Cheers, will try that when I get home tonight. Didn't noticed the padlock symbol.

In that case you're gonna have to install 3rd party software such as macfuse (think I'm right in saying that) for example to enable you to write to a NTFS drive.
