I have an Alienware 15 R1 with graphics amp which is connected to an external monitor and the internal one disabled on the laptop, see pic in the spoiler for info.
I've tried using the built in screen along side the external one however Optimus is a pain and causes some issues whenever something remotely graphics intensive happens on the laptop screen. To counter this, I have the other laptop on top that is acting as stream chat and other things.
I want to put a bracket under the desk that will house the Alienware in a tray and the amp on another bracket to make some more room on the desk and to clean it up.
A bit long winded, but basically I need a way to power up the laptop without having to open the lid. Sleep mode isn't available as the amplifier switches that off. There is no wake on LAN support from what I can see. The only workarounds I can realistically do is take the battery out and leave it on the mains 24/7.
Hopefully someone has a work around to hitting the power button that doesn't require soldering an external switch as I don't have access to a soldering iron! TIA.
