External Screen Woes, Help!

Hi All...

Right i have a macbook pro and a 24" external monitor now heres the thing, i want to run the macbook pro in clamshell mode/lid closed im using insomniaX to make sure it doesnt go to sleep but when in mirrored mode with the lid shut, or open it wont let me adjust the external screen to its native resolution, any ideas on how i can get this to work....

I run my MacBook in clamshell mode all the time. Also i dont use insomniaX, just set you power saving setting never to sleep.

Just close your macbook, let it sleep, then plug in your external moniter, press the keyboard or mouse to wake it and it should work fine.

Clamshell usage is ace. It's like an iMac, only with your own choice of monitor, non-poncey looks, and the ability to transform in to a laptop.

If it works anything like mine you can lift the lid, power it on shut the lid before it makes the startup sound and then it just runs of the external display.

Yeah i do that, although i hardly ever turn it off. Sleep f t w!

I cant wait to try this with my macbook but refuse to pay 15 quid for a mini dvi to vga from apple lol

Unfortunately its a necessary evil. I bought the dvi and s-video adapters, £30 on two little boxes!

Yeah I bit the bullet and bought a DVI one, but its worth the expense
