Hi

looking to buy an external device that connects to my sound card

kind of like the old box you got with the Hercules Game Theater back in the day

i have an X-Fi Extreme music and i know i could have gotten such a device if i got the elite pro but i £200 is WAY too much

a cheaper 3rd party device would be adequate

after doing some more research it appears i'm looking for something called a headphone amp

want something on my desktop that i can connect my headphones/mic/speakers to with a volume knob

and a switch to change from headphones to speakers

How about a Hi-Fi pre-amplifier with built-in headphone amplifier? Has in/out switching, speaker outputs and headphone amplifier.

Something like a Audiolab 8000C (pre-amp) or 8000S (amplifier)

that costs £449

i was only looking to spend £50max or maybe slightly more

I'm not an audiophile or anything
the mic is only used for online games

if its too hard to find one ill just get the Elite pro

even that the total cost is still around £160 which is only £25 less than if i got an elite pro

nm tho ill just get that :)

thanks for the help tho
