Happy New Year all!

I have recently rebuilt my system into the very good Hyte Y70 Touch case which I am delighted about!

Problem I have is because of the way, and I prefer the way my Video Card is mounted vertically, I can no longer install my PCIe SoundBlaster AE-5 into my build.

I have tried the onboard audio on my Z690 Hero and its not great in my opinion.

I use AKG K550's, and Edifier R1855DB Bookshelf speakers through the S/PDIF (TOSLINK)

Can you spec me a decent external Sound Card?

I'm quite enjoying the SoundBlaster G6 I got recently, I'm using it with AKG K702 phones mostly for gaming. I have to say it made quite a difference to the sound of my headphones, the onboard on my B550-f just didn't have the power this thing does. I think it can be used for plugging in speakers too but I haven't tried that yet.

I was close to buying the Fosi K5 which might suit you better, I'm 100% headphones and gaming for 90% of my time so I went with the G6.

Mate I've got the exact same problem!

I want to buy this case but I really can't part with my AE5, I think it's such a terrific card. I use HD650's and it drives them wonderfully. Is there definitely nowhere to mount the AE5 at all? I currently have mine behind my GPU in a vertical mount and a riser cable. I'm half tempted to just bolt the card in the back of the case and run the riser if so. I too have a Z690 and the onboard really doesn't cut it, it is noticably worse quality and nowhere near as loud.

I'm thinking that surely it can't be too bad just using velcro tape and sticking the sound card somewhere as there's no moving parts etc. I know it's a bodge job, but it really is a good card.

Sennheiser GSX 1000 was pretty decent but pricey.
