External (USB) Hard drive keeps ejecting itself

Have recently connected a 2TB WD Green hard drive to my iMac via the Akasa USB caddy available from OcUK:

The disk has been working fine for a while in a windows computer but since being put in the caddy it ejects itself from the mac quite often - throwing up the 'unsafe removal' error before the drive re-appears.

I formatted this drive to Mac and have transferred a lot of data to it successfully (albeit with a couple of drop-outs), but now it's ejecting itself more and more often, even when it's doing nothing.

Any suggestions guys? Have turned off the 'put hard drives to sleep where possible' but it still does it. Is it likely to be the drive or the caddy? (I have other externals that do not drop out) Anything I can do within SL to test it? (not had much cause to do mac troubleshooting before!)

Cheers.

Does it ever disappear from the Windows box too? It sounds to me like a fault with the hard drive, the caddy or even the USB cable. If you have a spare USB cable it would be worth swapping it for a while and see if it still happens. I've seen this problem lots of times and it's not usually the OS.

No, it never dropped when it was an internal hard drive in the windows machine. Not able to test it as an external on a windows machine, as it's now formatted to Mac OS. I will try a new USB cable though. Figure it's not the OS as there are other externals connected that don't drop out...
