hi all I’m currently building a large pc desk that houses 2 computers.
Problem I’m facing is the motherboard inside the desk will be to far to run mice and keyboard usb cables to from top of the desk.

I want to plug them into a external usb dock just at the back of the desk and in turn plug that into the motherboard

Will the keyboard and mice work in bios if I do this?

Any recommendations on dock?
I might run a second dock on the top of the desk just to plug and play things like chargers and dongles and flash drives etc so that will only need about 2 maybe 3 ports.
And the dock underneath at the back needs probably 4 at max ports.

I have 2 internal nzxt docks that has 2 USB ports on that I could plug the mouse and keyboard into and this plugs into the usb2.0 header direct on the Mobo but still not sure it will let me use them in bios because of drivers etc?

Any ideas would be helpful thanks

Many monitors also contain USB hubs these days. But I have two USB hubs on my desk - a 13 port USB 2 hub and a 3 port Icy Box USB 3 hub with a SATA HDD socket. The PC is 4m away in a corner.
I have an acer predator x34 and that has 4 usb 3.0 ports but I don’t like the idea of ruining to much on them I’d rather a usual dock.

Do you have your keyboard plugged into the hub then? And does it work when your in bios?
Cheers

Yes.

I don't trust my memory to say for sure, but I think so. They're powered hubs, BTW.
If you get chance next time you boot up can you just pop into bios and check for me please.

What hubs do you use?
Just checked your set up that’s some decent cables you have !!!

is there any workaround this issue? I am using USB hub and running widows 10. it works perfectly fine however during boot i cant use it at all and I have a dual operating system so whenever I have to use it, I have to go back and plugin directly into it.

Possibly a bios setting or update? sometimes USB devices don't work that well in BIOS/during boot, maybe a usb to PS2 converter would work for an input device, if you motherboard has a legacy PS2 socket?

Yes i didnt think of that , i will update the bios to see if it start working , my bios has setting for USB power during boot but somehow it just don't recognise the USB hub . i will update it

i got a 10 port Anker powered hub with 3 high power charging ports, off ama**n (couldn't find one on OCUK sorry guys) but its been great so far, with a hotas, pedals, track ir and VR in addition to the regular peripherals, my usb ports were running very low, even on a Maximus board with a huge amount of usb ports.
