No idea what I am asking for but will be getting some quotes in, so need educated :)

Basically had some blown plaster in the front room, got some one out to sort who told us our wall was plastered incorrectly for type of wall it was and rectified but as part of doing the job he traced the real issue back to a small crack out side and it was his belief which sounds reasonable to me that the external render is blown in places and water is running down the wall, again reasonable as it turns out we also have a dodgy gutter and water has been running down the same area which has no doubt aided the damage.

So obviously I need to fix all this and will do so in one go.

We have a 1930a solid brick house with a crappy sand and stone chipping render, been on the house ~20years and is crumbling, with no cavity walls on the old walls we were considering external wall insulation as part of the update, any one got experiences of this or know any thing about them , pros and cons etc?

Cheers
