A father has a recurring dream of losing his family. His nightmare turns into reality when the planet is invaded by a force bent on destruction. Now, fighting for their lives, he comes to realize an unknown strength to keep them safe from harm. Starring Michael Peña, Lizzy Caplan and Mike Colter. Extinction premieres July 27, only on Netflix

This looks like my cup of tea. I chose to stop watching the trailer half way through as I don't really want to spoil it for myself. Cheers for the heads up.

Was looking forward to this but what a let down, those kids are annoying as hell.

The final scene on the train platform when they are reunited with the brats and they have a nice get together whilst the humans are almost upon them, ridiculous.

This caught my eye after watching the trailer but your comment and the horrific reviews makes me think it's one to miss.

Seems to be the way with an increasing number of releases especially Netflix - great visuals, usually good sound editing, entirely forgettable plot that seems to be just a check box progression of stock movie themes and annoying characters that act nothing like feels believable for a given situation. Usually with a bit of promise for the first 30 minutes and then becomes endlessly more tedious after that until it bumbles to some kind of conclusion.

Ah what a shame, with Colony gone I was hoping this would somewhat replace it. Will wait until the end of the season and see what people are saying. In the meantime I have 12 Monkeys to watch which I only recently started :D

This is a film. Not sure why this has been posted in the US TV show section.

Wasn't bad, plot twist was very surprising (cue someone coming in and saying he seen it a mile off even though it wasn't even remotely what you would think). Would have been a better movie with different actors, they just seemed not suited for it imo. Be interesting if it did get a sequel but the reviews its getting would make that surprising.

the double plot twist is quite a shocker really.

The first twist you're like 'typical, they've messed it up' but then you're like 'ohhhhhh, bamboozled again.

I would like to see a sequel to this but with a different cast, maybe happening on the other side of the country. Was an interesting concept to say the least, just would have worked much better with a different cast.

I hope this is better than "How it ends" which started off really well then bombed at the end!

Generally enjoyable to the point of the "twist", you then hear the reasons for the attack yet are kind of expected to carry on feeling sorry for and caring for the main characters? Er... no!
