Extra long usb cable

Is it possible to buy extra long standard USB cables? I want to leave my 500gb Lacie external drive next to my tv connected to my WD HDTV instead of moving it to my pc when backups need to be done or i need something off it.

Something like a 10 or 15 metre cable would be good

You can get them (or extensions) but the speed will decrease a bit.

You will need active extension cables for anything over 5m (or put in a couple of USB powered hubs every 4-5m).

What I would do if I was you is, buy a usb ethernet dongle and plug it into your WDTV, download the cracked firmware for your WDTV which allows it to accept ethernet then run an ethernet cable to your pc and it will allow you to acces the drive remotely , or if you have wireless you can do it that way also!
