I am lucky enough to have aquired one of those Fractal Design 140mm fans that is totally silent, working at only 9db. The original plan was to fill up my HAF 932 with some Xigmatek fans, but after hearing how noisy they were I am having a change of plan.

Does anyone know of another fan that is of a similar loudness to this fan, but would fit my red and black coulour scheme? Looking for a red fan.

More 140mm or 120mm?

The 120mm fractal is noisier.

Not that many red bladed fans around but you could paint them, or step their speed down with a resistor or fan controller.

Xilence red wing springs to mind although they aren't wonderful quality fans and don't push massive air when running slow.

Hi Tealc. Planned to use your guide on the fans to get some LEDs on them. Do you know how to seperate the blade from the motor to paint these fans? Or on a Coolermaster 200/220mm fan?

peel the sticker off the back, use a pair of snipe nose pliers to remove the washer thing (hard to describe, you'll know what im on about when you see it), and the blades will just pop right out.

some fans you may find a filler cap thing (im great with descriptions aint i?) behind the sticker which will need removing before you get acess to the washer, but with the right leverage (or a dermel...), this will pop out.

Your such an idiot, you could have explained that the washer would pop off in my eye! Seriously, thanks for the description, got there easy! They all had that filler port thing which was easy. Next time wear eye protection...

xD

Defo Looking forward to seeing the result of your fan mod/s.

The Enermax Magma fans run quiet at only 18db with good airflow aswel. Might be worth checking out :)

I can say dont go for xigmatek fans, got a few in a CM690 case, does the job but they are quite loud on full load. Thank god for my fan controller, have them all right turned down running at about 30%.
