Extracting Audio from Video File

Hi,

I've got a video file which I would like to strip some audio out of to manipulate. The video file is in XVID format with the audio in MP3 format and is in an AVI container.

Does anyone have any pointers on how I can do this they could share please?

Virtualdub can extract streams from avi files.
