Hey guys,

Does anyone know of any way to extract the terrain data from google earth? Basically, I'm after the 3D model that makes up a particular area to use in a uni project.

I know you can import/export models in google earth, but its the actual terrain layout that I'm after.

Cheers.

Found this, haven't tried it though. If you can get the topo data for the area you're interested in you should then be able to convert that to a height map for use in 3D stuff. Many 3d apps will work with it, including game engines if you wanted to walk about it.

Basically you need a greyscale image of the area, black being the lowest point and white being the highest.
