Extreme Comp' Lag

Had a few of my friends round the other day and they were on my PC. They managed to screw my computer pretty bad, 3 viruses(NOD caught them though, phew) and 36 criticals in ad-aware, don't ask how.

Managed to fix a lot of the problems but now when right click within folders etc My Pictures or something my computer freezes up, music stops and my mouse dots around the screen where I move it instead of it going smooth.

Any ideas

Can you not System Restore to before your friends screwed with your machine? Then make sure they never get on it again

I've never had it enabled.

Turn on System Restore for future use. Get CCleaner, do a defrag.

Then hit them with your keyboard.

Done and done, not turning on restore though. Darn meddling kids!

Chkdsk.exe, works wonders for the exact problems your describing. My pc took like 10 mins to startup and took ages to load explorer windows, and networking wasn't working properly, as soon as I ran chkdsk it recovered about 500 damaged files and then everything started working properly.
