Extreme cooling ! for PCS HD 3870 XT

I've had a Powercolour PCS HD 3870 XT extreme for a while now and the fan noise is driving me mad !

No fan control at all on this card at all !

So I've whipped the fan off and cable tied on a Sharkoon 120mm 1000 fan to the heatsink. Quick and dirty fix and it works really well and temps are about 35 oc at idel and only about 55 oc at load.

Been working well now for about a week.

Nowt more to say really !

yeah i did the same with my powercolor 3850, but recently got a thermalright hr-03 and it's great, 92mm fan running 50% is virtually silent and it idles 34c @ 1.4v, 48c full load

Ghetto cooling ahhhh bliss. You can't beat it .

I cable tied a fan in line with my case fans to strengthen the airflow once. With UV lights and UV cable ties it looked pretty cool on my older DFI Ultra-D motherboard with some UV reflective cabling and my old Corsair ram with utilisation LED's.
