extreme filter in thunderbird

hi guys,

i get a huge amount of junk email to my university email (hmm only thing used for is to sign up to this forum...) however i wish to have all emails that are not from selected addresses to be automatically deleted or put in junk mail folders. how can i do this?

How about setting up a message rule along the lines of, "Match any of the following: From isn't in my Address Book (then specify address book in next field) set junk status to junk/Delete message."?

Also many University mail systems have server-side spam filtering (such as spamassassin) that may have to be enabled/tweaked.

Personally I have a rather complex procmail script that does 2 levels of spam filtering and moves messages from specific sources to particular mail folders

I get very little spam in my uni inbox, but they have serverside spam filtering from Mailscanner, which was written by Julian Field, and Admin at the Uni.

I'd talk to the uni and see how useful they are.

i will activate spamassassin, however i did manage to delete ALL emails - fortunately they had a backup!!
