Hi guys, been getting this problem for the last few weeks now and its not got any better no matter what I try.

Almost every time I try to play a game my PC freezes then the screen will go blank. When I ctrl alt del out of it I get an error message saying ATI display driver has stopped working and successfully recovered.

I have tried everything.

Ran system on the standard clock with no luck
RAM timings and voltages all seem correct
GFX card is running stock and temps seem to be fine
Tried 11.3 & 11.6 ATI drivers

I hope my CPU, Motherboard and RAM isn't to dated for the card? (spec in sig below)

The problem is temperamental as sometimes I can play games fine. recently though it has become worse.

Any one who has had the same issue and managed to sort it please please post your advice.

Thanks in advance

Matt

Is it a particular game? or multiple games?
Definitely sounds like a display driver issue, did you uninstall and perform driver sweeper before changing drivers?

CSS, and I have tried running the heaven benchmark tool which throws up the same error. yes I have removed drivers using driver sweeper a few times now in safe mode.

Searching it on Google at the moment which is throwing up a lot of results where other people have had the same issue, there just doesn't seem to be any resolved threads lol.

you could actually try underclocking your gfx card, see if it runs ok, if it does you know its the card, obv you dont want to run it underclocked for ever but at least it will let you confirm if its the cards hardware or not

I've just installed 10.2 driver which so far has stopped the crashing. Plus the benchmark test ran perfectly fine although the score was down from before.

Fingers crossed its OK.

I've ordered some RAM so I will also put that in when it comes as I've never been 100% with what I have now.

Cheers for the advice do far guys.
