If I should have posted this thread in the overclock/cooling section could a moderator kindly move it over, cheers.
Anyway, I bought this bundle from Overclockers a few years back https://www.overclockers.co.uk/reve...rable-enthusiast-gaming-bundle-bu-007-og.html and I remember being told by a friend at the time that my temps were high but not unreasonably so at the game temperatures stated with MSI Afterburner. I think I remember them being around about 75-80C in games. I have seen graphs online that show 80C maximum = Hot, still playable at this temperature + I saw quite a lot of threads at the time with people reporting similar issues. Benchmarks running at 100C, games running at 90-100C, idle temps like 60-70C. Many of those users experiencing the same issues as me. some of those with stock coolers, some with overclocks, some with liquid/water cooling on a wide range of different motherboard configurations. So instead of worrying myself about it I left it well alone and treated it as the norm with these CPU's running at insane temperatures (70-80 max load) and with my system being pre-overclocked by Overclockers I had faith that everything was safe to go. Fast Forward two years my current idle temp is around about 30-40 but as soon as I load a game, give it 10 minutes to kick in and my CPU slowly creeps up to 90-100C, ouch. As soon as I close the game this slowly drops to around about 30-40 again after a couple of minutes.
Why did I never bother to bring this up in the past 2 years? In all honesty I never leave CPUZ, GPUZ, HW Monitor, MSI Afterburner and all the other software open. I just like to load the PC and play games occasionally
. That was until I had a slight issue with my 1080TI with idle temperatures, since fixed with a custom fan curve with a idle fan temp of 20% <3, thanks whoever mentioned that in the 1080TI thread. Before this I had messed around with my case for airflow, taken off the side and top panel, windows open, door open, desktop fan on. GPU is now idling at 30 and temperatures in game are now decent, around about 65-70C.
This is when I began to notice the extremely high CPU temps with MSI Afterburner on screen display I think it's called, CPU temp in-game rises to 95-100C
. Not sure if I am getting any throttling or not, fps seems to stay the same, no stutter but the temperatures report a staggering 100C on video games. I always knew my PC rig got a bit warm lol, thought it was normal, but if this has been the case for a while, surely I have caused damage
? It seems to climb gradually. Tested Rocket League for an hour and it just rose and rose up until the point I had to close the game, minutes later the temps dropped dramatically.
Anyway I pulled my PC apart again today reapplying thermal paste, cleaned the comp of dust, taking the radiator/pump off and resitting or whatever you call it and the same thing happened. Start up temps 27C, load a game (15 minutes later idle) return to the comp and 100C CPU temp. GPU was sat at 67C, Motherboard according to Speccy was 37C, so a huge difference
. Airflow could be a slight issue here, but not to this extent surely? I made sure my room was well cooled today, fans are all operating as far as I'm aware, side/top panel taken off yet it still jumps to ridiculously high numbers. Something is definitely wrong.
I'm hoping with this being a commonly reported fault in 2014/2015 that somebody knows what the heck is going on and how to fix it on my system. My BIOS Motherboard is on F6. Does this sound like an issue with in case airflow? Fans/pump issue? CPU dying? Overclock? BIOS tweaks needed? Read quite a few threads today dating between 2014-2016 about settings set to auto/enabled that can potentially fry your CPU given time. Trying to get this sorted is definitely a priority, need to get those in game temps down to a safe temperature.
I also tried the laptop high temp fix today on the Windows side of things by turning the maximum processor from 100% to 99%, in doing so this removed my overclock completely and the temperatures dropped to about 65-75%, never did a long game session to see if it increased any further. This still with the case wide open.

Rest of my spec should be in the signature. If I need to attach certain screenshots or even record something for 10 minutes no problem, I can do this. You may have to explain things in simple terms with responses though as I may not understand
. Apologise for the long post. Hoping you lads can help, really don't want to be forking out another £1000 on hardware at the moment.
