This is taking the mick now with boot times hitting th 10min mark. i have no spyware or adware or viruses.

My system is 2gb ddr 2 pc-8500 ram
600W PSU
INtel core 2 duo Q6600 OCd slightly

I have no idea why, i dont have many startup programs and its only happened lately.

i have suspicions on the HDD (300GB SATA2)

Any help would be great!

I suspect its a driver issue. Have you tried using bootvis to record your boot and see what is taking the time?

it depends, i disabled start up programs and it sped it back up, however when loaded to the main desktop a lot of lag occured, the programs took agess to loads EG firefox and msn. also it randomly locks up during games/normal browsing. for mayby 10 seconds at a time. any ideas guy!

Mine does something like this. It boots to the desktop ok but then takes 2mins or so to initialise a network connection and load start up programs (like rivatuner) and you can't open any programs until it's finished doing this. Very frustrating when overclocking. :(

Maybe your overclock isn't that stable cos you say it locks up briefly?
