Eye strain when working with multi monitors of different resolution.

At the moment i'm running 3 x 19" wide screens, each screen has a resolution of 1440 x 900. All three screens are connected on a high lift monitor stand.

I'm thinking changing the center screen to a 22" wide with a resolution of 1680x1050. So this would leave have the 22" wide screen in center, and two 19" wide screens on the outsides.

At the moment I do like that all monitors are identical, however I would like to upgrade that middle monitor.

Anyone done anything like this, i'm concerned about eye strain switching from the 22" back to the 19"s. I'm a software developer, can spend ages looking at these monitors. Other concern is there will be a font size difference, especially if I've got program code on a 19" and program code on the 22" screen.

Also in a perfect world I would have 3 22" screens, but my monitor stand with not support 3 screens that size.

Thanks for everyone's feedback, you have just convinced me and just ordered the 22" screen used from the bay.

What are peoples thoughts on using the 22" wide with regular 19" screens running at 1280 x 1024.

Regular 19" screens are actually higher then 19" wide screens, so another option is to run the 22" wide in center, with the regular 19"s on outside.

Details on the monitors

This is the one I've just ordered

These are the three screens I have at the moment

But I also have some of these regular 19" in the house

This is the stand I have, it's designed for 3 x 19" regular screens, but i've done the measuresments and checked weight and a single 22" plus 2 x 19" wides will fit

Give all those combination of monitors above, what do you think I should run. Would regular 19"s have a closer PPI to the 22" wide I have just ordered?

All these monitor choices, I can remember when a single 15" VGA screen was an aspiration!
