Ive been getting a lot of eye strain recently.. and i spend a lot of time on my PC at both work and home.

At home i have a TFT 20" widescreen at home i have Dual 20" CRTs .. ami right in thinking TFTs have a lot less eyestrain and is it worth getting TFt's at work on medical grounds?

Has anyone else had this issue / problem?

Do you only get eyestrain when working on the CRT's? Your TFT brightness could be to high, the default is usually on 100% I have mine on about 30%.

i have my dell 15" on 0%

whats "eye strain" feel like... my eyes just get "tired" after staring at pc screen because they get dry (think i blink less).

i agree with the above on my old screen i had the brightness at about 40 and on my dell i have it at 20. and thats still bright. try dropping the brightness and remember to take a break every 2 hours. (i dont do this but it is recommended)

Run the CRTs at 75 Hz or above too.

I agree with that, any time I sit infront of a 60hz crt my eyes go absolutely haywire, especially when there is large amounts of white on the screen. Its like the picture is jumping about the place.

I'm not sure if TFTs are actually better for your eyes though.

I have the monitor on 85hz.. i also dont think it help that the CRTs are getting abit old now and starting to go out of focus and fussy.. especially on small fonts etc. While the TFT is ultra sharp.

Don't use the CRTs in too high res either. Tiny text doesn't help your eyes.

Hopefully you can figure out if it's the CRTs causing the eye strain based on when you get it, and if it is the CRTs then I would replace them with TFTs. Also as said above, don't use TFTs on full brightness, they are often miles too bright.

I used to get a lot of eyestrain and changing the lights in my room helped, I spoke to an optician and he recommended to have a light shade that covers the whole light and pushes the light upwards and this helped.

Fortunetly the lighting is already upward at work.. its dual 20" @ 1280x1024.. but im finding it tricky to rea at times.. but i never used to.. so im going to organise an eye check too...

(i used to use a 17" on 1600x1200.. and it never botherd me) :(
