Hi sorry to start a new thread about this but I think I'd get more help posting here than in the Tridef forums.

My specs are
i7 2600
16gb ram
Sapphire HD7950

I recently purchased 3 of the Samsung 700d's on offer

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=BU-000-SA&groupid=17&catid=1425&subcat=

and have them set in Eyefinity via and in order:

1=DVI
2=HDMI
3=DVI to Active MiniDisplayPort to Single Link Adapter (http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-058-HS&groupid=1929&catid=1757&subcat=)

When I start the Tridef software on my eyefinity setup I get a
(DirectStereo 3D error 0030013a) message and that 3D is disabled.

I've tried different order combinations with the monitors and tried setting Tridef in SBS mode also lowering my desktop resolution down, all with no luck.

I know I can't get the full 120Hz on all 3 without getting 2 of the Startech minidisplay port adapters.http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-000-SR&groupid=1929&catid=1757&subcat=

But I thought I should at least be able to get 60hz and 3D across all 3 monitors with the above combination?

Is it because my minidisplay port adapter is Single Link? Do I need the Startech adapter which is Dual Link to get 3D on all monitors? Or is it a driver, software issue?

I've sent a request to Tridef but I have a feeling they're going to reply with "Contact Samsung"

Also their forums are terrible for getting answers which is a shame because if as Gibbo said OC's were selling hundreds of these monitors and the software is not the easiest to get the hang of the forums are going to get a little busier.

Anyway hope you guys can help

Thanks

My understanding is that you need to use dual-link DVI connections to those 700 series monitors to get the 3D working. Therefore, with your graphics card you would need two of the Dp to dual-link DVI adapters you linked to.

Can you get 3D working OK of the one monitor connected by the built-in DVI adapter on the graphics card?

Cheers for the reply.

Yea that's what I was thinking, although I can get 3d on a single monitor fine using the DVI or HDMI input.

I just tried using Single Display Port adapter though on a single display and got the same message so yea I think that's the problem. Doh!

I should have tried before posting the thread but confirmation of this would be appreciated!

Thanks

If the 3D works OK through the HDMI input, have you tried passing the single-link DVI signal from the DP adapter into a HDMI adapter like this and into the monitor?

I was thinking something like that could work as I got one of them with my card.
http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-289-SP&groupid=701&catid=56&subcat=1673

Problem is my card and it has only 1x Dual Link DVI, 1x HDMI & 2x Mini-DisplayPort connections.

So I have to use at least 1 of the mini displayports sadly.

If the HDMI does work acceptably then conceivably you could use one monitor connected via the native dual-link DVI, with the other two connected by HDMI (one using the native port and one using the dp to single-link DVI to HDMI).

When testing the monitors, is there a noticeable difference in the quality and smoothness of the image in games when switching from the monitor on dual-link DVI to the one on HDMI?

Aaah I see plug that HDMI to DVI adapter into the Displayport adapter still to then use a HDMI lead from the monitor, yea I'll try that cheers.

As for quality I haven't noticed any difference at all tbh. I tried a single monitor in HDMI 3d the other day when I was having trouble getting frame sequential working. It did work but I can't recall in what mode. I believe HDMI in 3D limits your FPS depending on your resolution is that correct?

Thanks

edit:
Bah the one I got with my card is male/male I need male/female

+1 This. Did a lot of researching into it a while ago. Those monitors are 120hz aren't they? To get the full 3d effect which is 1080p@60hz per eye which is needed for fps games you can't use HDMI or SL-DVI. IIRC you'll need Dual link active adapters for 120hz effect which can only be used with DL-DVI and mDP, HDMI doesn't have the bandwidth.

BUT you only need to buy the adapters if you're playing fps games IMO,1080p@ 30fps or 720p@60fps is grand for anything else that's not fast paced or a FPS.

If you're content on using it for BF3 and such (and I presume you'd want 1080p for that aswell) try out the 3D through HDMI and then if you like it I'd save for the adapters, unless you don't mind playing fps at 30 fps, in that case disregard what I said!

Cheers guys.

Yea I can get 3D at a decent frame rate on one monitor through DVI, I knew I needed 2 of the Startech dual link adapters to get full 120hz on all 3 monitors and was considering either getting them next month or maybe saving for another/newer card, but I thought I'd be able to get 3D at least at 60hz & 30fps with the HIS single link minidisplayport adapter/DVI/HDMI combo across all three monitors in eyefinity.

The frames would be bad I suspect but I just want to get it all up and running in 3D before I decide whether to get the dual links.

Thanks Chipachap

Well Thanks to Tridef support I found a way to have 3D in eyefinity at 60Hz using Above-Below method. Not ideal but fine until I can get the better adapters.

However I am having a weird little problem assigning the 3D glasses to all three monitors at once.
I hold the button and get the "3D glasses are connected to monitor" but only one monitor at a time. I have tried turning the other 2 off then assigning but with no luck.

I can get the outer two monitors on at once. But the center one stays off.
Or I can get the center one on with the outer two off?

Is there some way to do this properly and am I doing it totally wrong or is this a bigger problem?

Thanks very much for the reply Maxi

Yea I'm new to all this 3D myself but from what I've read at 60Hz frames are locked at 1080=24 and 720=60 using HDMI

I bought 2 of the Startech adapters today and can now do 120Hz fine in 2D but still cant seem to get that 3rd monitor in 3D at 60 or 120Hz.

I'm going to try what you said and connect them to the center monitor.

I tried quickly then using the 3D conversion and it seemed to work. Fingers crossed I'll try it with Tridef now.

Thanks Maxilive for the help and the reply much appreciated dude.

Hi Daz

I think I may have found the problem and fix although its far from perfect.

Basically the Tridef game profiles are not made for Eyefinity and need adjusting to suit the three screens.

I just had a quick try of Dirt3 and still wasn't getting 3D on all three. The right hand side was still doubled. Tridef support even said they too have problems with syncing all monitors at times. So I turned the monitor on and off and it still looked wrong somehow.

I fiddled around a bit with the in game Tridef menu changing eye settings and depth and eventually it fit. I tried it a few races and some times it seemed off and others it seemed on.

I just tried Skyrim and Deus Ex and with a little configuring in the Tridef menu they both worked too!
Obviously it throws a few other things off at times like cross-hairs or a certain view mode is slightly askew but Tridef did that on a single screen 3D when changing the settings. They were definitely all in 3D after a few adjustments and they did look pretty great, so fingers crossed I think this was the main problem. Tridef game profiles just aren't adjusted for eyefinity!

I did try Crysis 2 and BF3 though and had a few problems so not sure if all games will work.

My Tridef Control Panel settings are:

MANUFACTURER: (standard display types)
MODEL: Line Interlaced

This means after booting game you have to select
Output: Above Below in the Tridef menu
and then change each monitor to Top-Bottom mode in the 3D menu.

When using AMDHD3D for Frame Sequential I still get the DirectStereo3D error msg and SBS doesn't work either so Tridef told me to use the above settings.

As I say not perfect at all, as I expected to be able to use FS and just boot games in 3D. Not all this messing about. Especially after forking out for them adapters.

I still think ATI, Samsung and Tridef could do with sorting this out but I fear it could be only you and I with this unique problem :)

Also I got that DisplayPort error msg about twice too over the past few hours. I'm not sure what this could be.
I do also get it in 2D also but not a doubling effect but that weird blurred/skinny text problem.

I'm still not 100% happy as its a bit of a pain having to start games and having to swap modes and stuff each time.
I don't think I really needed these Startech adapters although BF3 looked amazing all at 120Hz 2D even though I was only getting around 40fps.

So I'm going to give it a few more tests tonight and see how it goes in other games. It's still not running as I was told it would but If it is the case that its the Tridef profiles that need adjusting I may just bite the bullet and keep it all, hopefully with ATI drivers and updates sorting out the other problems like the DirectStereo3D error in FS, the DP and syncing issues in the future.

So give this a try and let us know how you get on Daz really hope this helps dude!

Also your English is great mate I'm a native and can barely type it at times:)

Just tried another quick test.

I tried Wings Of Prey. Same as usual right monitor was blurred/doubled and no Tridef settings were helping.
I restarted the monitor, no luck. So turned off the other 2 and assigned the glasses to the third monitor then turned the other 2 back on set them to Top/Bottom and bam, all in 3D!

I then tried Stalker CoP. Game booted right up 3D on all 3 screens and looked great.
Same with AvP booted right up all 3 screens in 3D.

Then tried Metro 2033.

Far left monitor went black and I couldn't get it back on at all. Had to disable Eyefinity and noticed I had that Display port error msg and the monitor was being recognized as a "PC tablet display?!" or something which I have never seen before.

So I had to restart machine.

Seems like it is sync and displayport issues at the bottom of all this :(

I might try the new 12.4 drivers that have been released but I'm not going to hold my breath.

Sorry I can't be of more help machine, I haven't really played around with the 3D much at all especially in Eyefinity as my card can't cope with the resolution. Also my SSD died taking all of my profiles with it -.-

I did give CSS a little go last night using the top-down method and it seemed to work a treat with all 3 monitors in sync without any issues on the front. This did destroy some of the HUD features and did give me a double crosshair? Again that could be due to HUD issues in Eyefinity + 3D. I have yet to try any of 3D formats (SBS) or other games to see if the issues are the same. I'll try to get some profiles and games installed tonight to give it ago for you :)

Cheers for the help Maxi.

I played around last night and it is strange.

I tried FalloutNV and it booted straight into 3D on all three fine. About 10 mins later I noticed the right monitor was no longer in 3D and everything on it was just doubled?

Same happened on BF3, game booted in 3D fine on all 3 about 10 mins later after my first death I noticed again the right monitor was doubled and it wasn't in 3D?

I had to quit then as the whole thing was giving me a blistering migraine.

What card are you using?
I have a 7950 and was getting around 25 fps when BF3 was on all three in 3D  I need to lower everything to low I think. Skyrim too was a bit harsh but everything else I've tried seemed to run well.

Cheers for the help Max

Thanks
