eyefinity advice

I'm not so sure if you can do it without one of them being a vga. Don't quote me on that tho.

I read something about power being a problem as the there is two power supplies for the outputs and you cant put 3 displays on one. I dunno i really can't remeber. I ended up just going for one of these. Can be found for v cheap on google ect. works a treat. There is no differnce in the vga monitor, i'm actully running 3 monitors at 2048 x 1152 ( eyefinity : 6144 x 1152 )

Tbh honest i'd think twice about eyefinity, seems like a really good idea at the time but it wears thin quickly. I originally had 2 x 5870 and ended up selling one as crossfire just didn't work with eyefinity in like 90 percent of the games. I'm now down to 1 5870 and it can do it but nothing mental, can't really have the settings on full.

No I didn't mean that crossfire won't work with eyefinity, it will work fine and you can have all 3 monitors running but when u try to play a game over 3 monitors with crossfire enabled you hit nothing but problems.

I'm not sure of the overclockers cable there. I done a good bit of googling before I a got a DP adapter as didn't want to have problems. All am I saying is the one I put a pic up of works perfectly and it's a VGA adapter. I have never tried a DVI adapter and couldn't find much info on people that have used them and got them working.

Ask google and see what he says :)

That DP->DVI adapter works fine, it is active and even has been stated by Sapphire that it works. It's only single link DVI, but it can run 1080p no problem. So you can run those monitors perfectly with your 5870.
And yes it will work with crossfire. As for drivers, 10.4 was great but I'm not sure how the latest ones are coping with crossfire and eyefinity together since after 10.4 many people had loads of problems.

oh cool thanks, so 1 using hdmi to dvi converter, one mini dp to dvi converter and 1 dvi. thats be ok then?

Yup that will work. Bare in mind that adapter is DP, not mini DP so you will need a mini DP->DP adapter.
There was a thread where Gibbo said he got some active mini DP->DVI coming in, but I have no idea what happened to those :(.

yes it will work :) Am currently running with that adapter (the sapphire) and it works a treat... Currently using three samsung 23" screens this end though.
