Right my friend has just brought himself 3 new monitors without bothering to do any research and is surprised he doesn't have the right connections on his gpu. (More money than sense).

He has a msi twin frozer 7970 boost which has;

2xmDP
1xHDMI
1xDVI-I

And he has brought 3 asus VN279QLB (http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MO-060-AS) which have;

1xD-Sub
1xHDMI
1xDP

Would I be correct in assuming he could use;

2 monitors - mDP to DP cables
1 monitor - dvi-dp

Would this cover the eyefinity 1 active dp connection requirements?

Only reason I don't think hdmi is it doesn't power on wake does it?

Also I'm a bit unsure if a single 7970 has enough grunt for 3x27" any ideas?

Thank you for your help.

One of the adapters needs to be active as the card can only send two clock signals IIRC when using non display port connections.

With at least one display port you should be fine as they don't use the clock signals.

So due to two being displayport the dvi-dp would have to be active? Do they even make them?

Sorry I either misread or missed the edit. Thank you :)
