i currently have a asus vw246h 24inch 1080p (60hz booo)

what i like....
i do a lot of gaming so high refresh rates is a big plus say 85+
response of 2ms idealy
like to stick to 1080p
seems most screens dont publish their refresh rate (at least on ocuk) so what people know would help

i have 2 options:
1: but two cheap 1080p to put eitherside of the existing monitor mlike that samsung thats on offer atm
2: get a single, screen like the new acer 3D screen that does 120hz

so, who has a high Hz screen? and who has eyefinity style displays for gaming on? and what do you think / recommend ?

Pretty much all LCD monitors on OCUK (and other sites) should be assumed to be 60Hz unless they explicitly state something else. 60Hz is definitely the standard and to be honest, for most gaming uses it is perfectly fine.

If you feel you need a higher refresh rate, then 120Hz is the way to go. As well as the fast refresh rate, these monitors also have very quick response times. One thing to bear in mind about the 120Hz acer is that it is supposed to be a bit noisy. The only other 120Hz monitor of that size is the Alienware, but that is much more expensive.

As for eyefinity, it is sweet technology and quite a few on the forums have experience with it and find it very nice. However, the downsides are that you will still be using 60Hz monitors - so if you have a problem with them then this is not going to be improved. Also, the resolutions that eyefinity uses are massive (especially for 3x1080p) so you will have to turn down some of your game details to preserve playable framerates (even with a 5870).

ahh gd point, i think i might so for the 120hz, but wait untill its more refined and slightly cheaper in like 6 months.
hopefully becomes wider spead because of 3D !

competative gaming is realy a single monitor affair i guess, but i just got a boner thinking of that eyefinity action haha

I'd say go for 1 kick ass one.

I tried eyefinity when I got my new pc, I sent 2 of the monitors back after 2 days and bought a 27" instead.

As much as i would love three monitors, for the amount they would get used properly i would have done the same.
