Eyefinity fraps video

The resolution is impressive but I don't like the warping it creates. The weapon reload animations look particularly bad. And that video just reminded me of Counter-Strike.

well if you spend so much money on additional gear like this, why shouldnt you be allowed an advantege? if i spent so much i would expect an advantage! otherwise there would be no point in spending so much on such a setup as it would be pointless =] hopefully i can afford the eyefinity setup someday xD just need another 2 24" monitors. haha ><

I wonder if it would be possible to use eyefinity with a really widescreen HDTV so that you only had to have one screen instead of 3 but still have the benefits of seeing to the side?

well its all to do with resolution. if you can find a really wide HDTV with a massive resolution, same as the resolution as you would get with 3 screen eyefinity, then you will see exactly the same with 1 screen instead of 3 =]

Hmm partially agree... resolution should never be limited, but this guy has a massive FOV advantage which is not really fair. I don't see the problem in SP or spec ops (in fact it's pretty damn cool!), but I don't really think it's appropriate for use in competitive play.

On a related note, I get annoyed when RTS games limit resolution or the amount you can zoom out (Dawn of War springs to mind). Again, I suppose this is kind of limiting FOV, but fog of war mostly negates the advantage you gain anyway so...

Hmm, it's debatable!

I'm guessing that is because you're viewing the video on a normal monitor. Think about it, on a 3 screen eyefinity screen, the side monitors will be viewied from an angle and hence will have a sort of 'reverse warp'. Hence the warping you see in the video above will effectively cancel out and it should look normal ... in theory.

No it doesn't :(

And as for advantage, your main monitor is still displaying what you would normally see, you can see more to the left and the right, but its distracting, you deffinatly play worse with 3 monitors. Its far too much to take in, I use 3 24" for work everyday so i'm more than used to the setup, but its so hard to scan the sceens for enemies, its great for racing sims and the like, but for fps online; 90% of the time its worse.

but shouldnt FOV scale linear with resolution anyway? otherwise it would distort the image onscreen i would think?

Exactly. Often, after changing the on-screen res to a higher mode, I even need to adjust my monitor's screen size using its manual screen size/shape controlls because half of the image is off of the screen, and the other half is too short.
