Hi Guys,

I currently have a HIS 6970 and thinking of upgrading, mate at work offered me £120 for it so its not a bad deal and was thinking of getting this:

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-108-GI

However, my current card and set up consists of 3xBenq and my HDTV.

So Im using the following:

DVI-DVI
DP-DP/DVI converter - DVI
DVI- DVI

And finally with the TV I'm using the HDMI.

I see this card linked above only has one DVI (pain) Can I use more than one DP-DVI adaptor?

If so will the following be okay?

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-058-HS

Sorry for all the questions, I don't earn millions so I like my upgrades to run smoothly! :p

Also when is the 8 series replacement for the 7970 (8970?) expected? With the PS4 having 8GB of GDDR5 RAM is something like this expected in the next gen of cards. I would prefer this to perform well when the new consoles come out.

Yes, you can use two DP to DVI converters. They have to be active link, and the one you posted in your link is active, it will do fine.

I think he's suggesting one 7970 isn't powerful enough for eyefinity. But since you're using a 6970 already, you will be getting a performance upgrade.

There's a sapphire 7970 with 2 DVI, 1xHDMI and 1xDP. Maybe there are others two.

That windforce is regarded as one of the best 7970s, so it may be worth getting it and the adaptor.

Thanks for the advice.

With regards to might not have the power, what do you mean?

I meant a single 7970 might not have power to play at 5760x1080(1200) with all the eye candy. I had 6990+6970 back in the day and it struggled. The 7970 is obviously more powerful

Best to try a single 7970 and then see how it works. Maybe save for another 7970 second hand - but the same

I used the cabe you mentioned above, this one

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CB-047-OK&groupid=1929&catid=1757

and a standard DVI cable from my MSI Twin Frozr 7850 and it works fine.

Heaven results are on the low end!, BF3 and NFS - the only two games play are , erm, playable on low settings with the card oc'd to 1150. Thinking about crossfiring or buying a 7950 as my mobo has only 1x16 slot. P
