Hi all,

Im having a little problem trying to setup eyefinity, I'm using an XFX R9 270X 2GB GDDR5 Dual DVI HDMI Dual Mini DisplayPort PCI-E Graphics Card and three 17" dell monitors (vga only) I have them connected via mini display port to vga adapter and the other two connected via DVI to vga adapters, but the problem i'm having is that the bottom DVI connection on the gfx card doesn't seem to work (that monitor doesn't show up in the configuration panel on the pc) now all the monitors work as I have switched them around on the gfx card, so I'm wondering if its the card or is it something to do with eyefinity i.e. you can only run one DVI to vga adapter?

It's most likely the case that the card only has a single DVI-I port and the other one is just a DVI-D port. The "I" signifies that it can run a DVI-VGA adaptor.

Thanks for the reply oweneades, thats very interesting can you tell me what the D signifies,

Thanks,

Digital

DVI-I: DVI-I is short for Digital Video Interface – Integrated. This connection provides a digital and analog video signal. A VGA (analog) connection can be established using a DVI to VGA adapter.

DVI-D: DVI-D is short for Digital Video Interface – Digital. This connection provides a digital video signal. A VGA (analog) connection CANNOT be established using a DVI to VGA adapter.

As far as I can see you have the following connections

DVI-I
DVI-D
HDMI
Mini DP x 2

1.The first two monitors can connect to the graphics card with any display output on your GPU: HDMI, VGA, DVI or Display Port.
2.The third (or greater) display must be connected to the graphics card via Display Port.
3.If your monitor does not have a Display Port connection, you will need an inexpensive active Display Port adapter for it.
4.Every family of AMD GPUs supports a different maximum number of displays.
