Got 3rd Dell u2412m yesterday, hooked it up hoping for Eyefinity...but no.

GFX Card is AMD Firepro 4900, two Displayport, 1 DVI outputs.
So two monitors connected by DP, the other DVI.
I had read you need at least 1 DP connection to get Eyefinity to work, I have two?
Something obvious I'm missing? :)

*One other thing?*
My new Dell had a Mfg. date of December 2012, but was Rev. A00?
Also the model number was u2412mb

My other two are just u2412m.

Seems odd a panel made a couple of months ago has the original hardware revision?
Dell are up to A07 now?

Any ideas - wondering if refurbs are being fed back into the system, if so its going back to the River place.

thanks.

The 2 that work, are they your original ones? How are they connected? Does the new one work using the same port/cable as an original one? Does one of your original monitors work with the same cable/port as the new one? Still nothing after cycling through the monitor inputs?

Give us more info :)

ta for the reply.

the two that work in eyefinity are my original ones.
Both connected up by displayport cable - monitor to gfx card.

Hooked the new(?) 3rd monitor up and the Eyefinity option disappeared form the Driver control panel.

It SHOULD work as I've set it up though..right?
I don't think I need an adapter or anything for the DVI connected screen?

Had a Displayport jack to DVI socket adapter that came with my GFX card.
connected that up hoping for eyefinity (3 displayport connections) but the screen is just going in to auto powersave mode and PC is only seeing 2 screens!

power cycled everythihg but no difference.
Also tried installing the driver from the Driver CD?

It never recognised any compatible monitors! Looking for DELA07B? (A07 in there...hardware revision? Label says A00)
wtf colour me confused!

*EDIT*
The DP to DVI adapter than came with my card is a Bizlink KS100009-131
which accoring to AMD Guide page here: http://support.amd.com/us/eyefinity/Pages/eyefinity-dongles.aspx
is a passive adapter.

Should I NEED an adapter...have two monitors hooked up via Displayport?

Maybe Im getting confused, but I thought for eyefinity you needed active display port adaptors ?

Hoping someone will confirm / deny this shortly

Perhaps I just need to get an active adapter, but from what I;ve read if one of the monitors is connected by displayport you shouldn't need to?
I'm confused too!

New to Eyefinity so putting the question out there. :)

Just received my U2412M too, it's a revision A00. Date of manufacture was December 2012 according to the label though, so it's not old stock.

Ah right...not just from there then, reckon Dell is shipping out old panels?
If monitirs are fine then its not a problem though.

The first one I got last week however had very poor viewing angles in comparison to my other two.
Not opened the replacement yet, but its an A00 Manf. Date December 2012 as well.

How do you find your new A00 monitor mate?

thanks.

Seems okay, no backlight or colour tinting or anything that I've read about, although if you see me thread just below this one I have noticed an odd red colour on the edges of some text. It's not all the time, just seems to be against certain backgrounds. Little disconcerting but I'm wondering if it's just more noticeable to me now that I'm on a larger display, as opposed to it being a particular issue with the panel.

saw your post bud, replied there.
Thanks for letting me know your monitors otherwise ok, reassuring to know.

Eyefinity problems...
do I need to get an active adapter, despite using Displayport connection for twop of my monitors?

As you have DP capable monitors you shouldn't need any adapters. You only need adapters to connect a none DP monitor to a DP output.

Ignoring Eyefinity for the moment, do you get a picture on all three monitors?
