Has anyone tried using this card (MSI ATI Radeon HD 6950 OC Twin FrozR III Power Edition) for eyefinity, if so what connections did they use and what resolution are they using it at. Thank you

I don't have the card or use Eyefinity.

I do know that to use Eyefinity you need to use at least one of the mini DisplayPort connectors on the card.

So you need at least one monitor with a DisplayPort connection or you need to use an active mini DisplayPort adapter.

As this card has 2 miniport and 1 HDMI outputs as well as the 2 DVi cant a HDMI to male Dvi cable be used for 1 of the monitors ? Or could the provided Miniport to female HDMI lead be used with a HDMI to male DVi cable?
Just trying to figure out what i might need :-) Apart from another 1680x1050 monitor..Ideas???

surveyor is right, one displayport has to be used be it a monitor with displayport input or active displayport adaptor, you can use dvi,dvi and mini displayport or dvi, hdmi and displayport got my adaptor from overclockers for about £22, its best to use monitors of the same res so if you are going to use the 22" 1680x1050 then get another 2 of the same res, this means you will be gaming at 5040x1050

To clarify you can't use the 2 DVI's and the HDMI at the same time.

The HDMI shares its connection with one of the DVI's so it's one or the other.

You can use 2 x DVI + mini DisplayPort or DVI + HDMI + mini DisplayPort.

You can't use 2 x DVI + HDMI.

You can use the adapters I linked to with the mini DisplayPort if you have, for example, 3 monitors with DVI connections.

If you already have a mini DisplayPort to HDMI adapter you can use that but I believe it needs to be an active adapter.

For Eyefinity all the 3 monitors have to run at the same resolution.

Thanks for the replies guys, I now have 3 x22"1680x1050 monitors and as they all have DVi inputs i was going to use 2XDVI and1 Mini Displayport with the adaptor.

Thanks again guys I will have one HP 2207 with DVI,one HP2207H with HDMI and the Hans G Z221 connected with MiniDP adaptor to Sapphire 44000-02-40R Active Display Port DVI Cable .So thats 1 HDMI connection,1 DVI connection and 1 MiniDP port connection.Hope it all works, i have a You-Tube Vid about setting the monitors up within windows so wish me luck :-)

display port cable

Yes but i have been told i have to have an active display port cable and plus i dont have a display port cable to DVI or HDMI anyway.

i can say without any doubt if you have 3 monitors that dont have displayport input and you want to connect via the dvi then you must have a active displayport adaptor
