Just bought myself a couple of Dell Ultrasharp 2007FPs to go in PLP with my Ultrasharp 3011 as one monitor is never enough and I wanted to get a sense check on my thinking as there appears to be so much misinformation out there.

The three panels will be driven by my Radeon 7970 - am I correct in thinking that there will be no problems running them through mDP, HDMI<>DVI and DVI? Single Link DVI, iirc, should be able to support the 2x 1600x1200 monitors and the 2560x1600 is run through mDP anyway. All things being equal, I don't need to worry about active/passive DP - right?

Also, given that AMD drivers now support Eyefinity 2.0, I should be able to set custom resolutions to overcome the two different resolutions?

Just want to be sure I haven't made a silly error in my workings here... cheers!

The connections and setup will work perfectly in Extended mode and give you three separate screens.

The issue you will have is setting Eyefinity mode, as each screen needs to run the same resolution and the same orientation in this mode. With Eyefinity 2.0, they added additional resolutions, so before I had only 5760x1080 as an option, now I have 4800x900, 3840x1024, 3840x800, 3840x720, 3072x768 and 2400x600 as well. There has been no change yet on orientation support, so in Eyefinity mode you will be limited to 1600x1200 landscape/portrait on each of your monitors - which won't look particularly nice on your 30 inch monster!

On the bright side, a 20-30-20 PLP setup will be lovely in desktop/extended mode.

Ah I see - so AMD still haven't given Eyefinity users the ability to set custom resolutions?

Is there any reason for this that is known, such as technical limitations?
