Ok, right now I've got 2 22" 1920x1080 screens and one 5870, they're connected via VGA/DVI adapter

Anyways, I hate that everything's centrered through the Bezel, so I'm going to get a third screen.

HOWEVER...

I only want the same monitor I'm using now, it'd cost 110 for the monitor, then 100 pound for an active VGA to display port adapter, that would work wouldn't it?.

However, I've currently got 225 pound..
If I was to buy a HD 5850 to crossfire with my 5870, could I also run a 22" 1920x1080 screen off the 5850 and then group it with my current 2? So, a 5760x1080 display on eyefinity using two cards.

As far as im aware no, the adapaters won't work at present, ATi's in talks now with a manufacturer to get adapters available though that you can use.

I heard that passive adapter don't work, but active adaptors will?

That wasn't my main query, my main point was, if I crossfire a 5850 with my 5870, can I use a third screen in eyefinity with it connected to the 5850, without a DP?

I can't see logicaly why it wouldn't work..

No it will not work, i have spent the day researching this.

Eyefinity works on one 5xxx card only. you cannot crossfire eyefinity yet. Its been rumoured you may be able to do this in the future via driver update but for now you cannot.

Cheers mate. Hopefully we'll get an update..

But, if I crossfire a 5850 with my 5870, I can still eyefinity my 2 monitors right?

eyefinity does not work with crossfire full stop at the moment.

It will do in the future but even then what your asking for may still not work.

£225 would however get you a 22" dell with a displayport that would work but not be a match for your other 2 22" but that is the way I am going.

Linky please?
