While there are many Eyefinity Q+A sessions around the web, my question is unanswered.
I have a Dell 3007WFP (2560x1600), and have recently bought two 2001FPs (1600x1200) with the plan of turning the two 2001FPs portrait (so the vertical resolutions match) and extending the centre monitor by 1200 pixels each way. Turns out that Nvidia Surround does not allow you to do this - they all have to be the same res.
Apparently Eyefinity allows you to use different resolutions, so I'm selling the GTX560s I currently have for an AMD card. However, there seems to be some confusion on the subject. Some say that all monitors have to run at the same resolution each (highest common resolution), whereas others say that it's the vertical resolution that counts. Others say it's fine to use different resolutions, and it compensates for it.
Any ideas which?
(TL;DR: Eyefinity: does it allow different resolutions to make custom resolutions like 4960x1600?)
