can you do eyefinity with different types of monitors. i have an oldish acer 22" monitor and my brother has given me his old sony (i think thats what it is ) 22" both are 1080p was wondering if i could buy another cheap monitor and go eyefinity

also will it run ok on my rig (see sig)

thanks

You can.. but differences between panels, brightness, contrast etc. may annoy you.

I had 2x VX2260 monitors and a VA2231 monitor from the same brand, and there's a marked difference in the picture from the 60s to the 31. So I've been looking around for a secondhand 60.

Give it a try with just the two, see how it goes. Then look at adding a 3rd. Or sell all three and buy 3 matching ones.

2x 5850s should run Eyefinity, but I believe all the connections come from Card 1, Card 2 is just used for horsepower. As such you may need a DisplayPort -> DVI adaptor or a Mini-DisplayPort -> DVI adaptor depending on your GFX cards. They've come down massively in price.

It would need to be an active adapter.

Or if one of the monitors has a DisplayPort connection then just connect it using that.

thanks for the help guys i have setup the sony screen luckly the 2 screens have exactally the same contrast ratio's and i have messed with the brightness so they are about the same i have seen on e bay another acer monitor same model for £50 so gonna snap that up i think

i have the sony running off hdmi. the acer off the dvi so the new monitor will have to run off the mini dp will this cable work?
