HI

As per title, can anyone suggest anything suitable please? Seen a few Vaios available at this price.

It's not for gaming, just Office, Internet, etc, and please don't suggest Acers or Packard Bells

:)

Thanks

I have got a 13.3" Toshiba satellite and to be honest its the best laptop I have ever had.
Easy to throw in a bag and carry about, integrated webcam / touchpad etc.

I bought this one on special offer for 500 quid as it was just about to be replaced by a new model and couldn't be more happy.

Toshibas were voted, along with Sony I think, as the best made laptops - whether that means bits or build quality I forget :)

Refurbed IBM T40, T41 or T42 will serve your needs excellently. can be had on the 'bay from about £140 and up, depending on what sort of specs you want.

i just recieved mine and it's ace. i LOVE IBM thinkpads they have fantastic keyboards and last forever. the batteries don't though :(

Thanks for the suggestions...

It has to be new (I have had T20, T43, and T60 thinkpads in the past, and they are good, but as I said needs to be new)

A Netbook would be too small.

It's not for me by the way- it's for my sister.

Thanks

my "refurbished" T41 was as good as new *says in hopefull voice*

why does it have to be new?

anyway, if you absolutely insist on getting a new machine, look into Dell Vostro's. they can be had MEGA-cheap direct from dell. they're in the small & medium business section :)

Sorry to ask as well but I'm looking for a laptop with simliar size screen for photowork and net use mainly...was looking as macbooks but the cost is so much...is there an alternative for this budget?

Ok narrowed it down to a couple.... Not a Vostro, as I have found a better- priced Inspiron...

Which one would you go for? Dell is cheaper and has more RAM, bigger HD, but the Sony has dedicated graphics card, and looks nicer (and is a slightly smaller screen)
